I have to blame fellow author Taryn Jameson for the rabbit hole I’m currently in.
She encouraged (dared?) me to create a male hero who is not a nice guy.

DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE I PLUNGED.
Last summer, I spent time researching Casanova, and I came across a reference to “Hell-Fire” clubs. I’d heard of them before, but wasn’t interested at the time. Now I was. I did some basic research and filed the idea away.
Then I was dared and the memory came floating up. I’d exhausted most resources, so I ordered another, which just happened to be re-released last week.

I’ve read Ashe’s book on King Arthur, but this was different and very intriguing. Perhaps you can tell from the highlighter and sticky notes.
This is a world I didn’t expect. I’m used to the formal, mostly staid, portraits of the 18th century. Instead I found a demi-monde of revelry, pornography, and kink.
Good times.
I shouldn’t have been surprised. This is the era of Casanova, after all–who actually wasn’t the biggest womanizer of the time, just the one who published about his exploits. I don’t know where this will take me, but I’m enjoying the ride.
Do it! I love the sounds of it!
