Happy Solstice!

“Do you always watch for the longest day of the year and then miss it? I always watch for the longest day in the year and then miss it.” The Great Gatsby.

Daisy Buchanan may miss the summer Solstice, but then, she’s not particularly observant. I, however, try not to. Aside from being the longest day of he year, it’s a sacred day in the Celtic religion, and as a result, to some of my characters in The Irish Gods series as well.

Although not directly part of the series, Real Magic is set in the world of the Irish Gods, but on a place very special to me– the Isle of Man.

This might not look like a story about a Celtic deity, but it is.

I was fortunate to spend two weeks on the Isle of Man back in 2013 as part of a National Endowment of the Humanities (NEH) scholarship. Granted, I had to work academically during the seminar, but I also had a great deal of fun, and it was there that the foundations for much I have written since were laid.

Real Magic is also my riff on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Midsummer is the solstice, after all.)

What’s it about?

Music. Desire. Sex. Magic. Romance. To Ana, these are what life should be. Will her dreams come true?

Real Magic. That’s all Ana Kallisti wants in her life, and when she meets Oren, she thinks her dream might come true. But Rob Goodfellow, has his eye on her, too, and he’s willing to use a little magic of his own, if it means he gets his way.

Real Magic is an homage to the Bard’s best known comedy with a sexy twist he could never have imagined.

It’s not your average Shakespeare story.

So, as you pack your bag to head to the lake or pool or beach this summer, take along Ana and Oren. They’ll keep you in sexy good company, and you can tell your friends you are indulging in some Shakespeare.

Real Magic can be purchased here and here.
