Goddess Fish

Like Trash

Today I get to share a book from one of my favorite genres, Historical Mystery.

Blurb:

My thoughts:

This topic is one of great interest to me, since one of my dear friends, Maggie Blackbird, writes about First Nations Peoples. So, I was excited to read another novel on the same topic. Bell does not disappoint in her tale, weaving history and mystery together to create an engrossing story. Though as a reader, I didn’t have time to connect to Marguerite and Marie-Ann as characters, I did want to know the why of their deaths. Guilliame is a compelling character, and he grows throughout the story, drawing me al one with him.

The writing gets better and stronger as the story progresses. Too many dialogue tags in the beginning for my taste. (Please note, that’s a me problem, not a criticism of the author’s skill.)

In short, buy this book and give it a chance.
